By now, most of you folks know that the US and NATO have been bombing the stuffings out of poor old Libya. To most of us, being attacked by a foreign military constitute war. According to "fearful leader" (Gobomber) what we are doing to Libya is NOT war.
Supposedly, or at least according to the media and government officials (including of course Gobomber) what the US and NATO are doing is "humanitarian intervention". Shade of the Billy Bob Bubba Clinton "war" in the former Yugoslavia in the mid 1990's. See, old bad boy Gaddafi was supposedly killing his fellow citizens and "we" HAD to act to prevent genocide.
Now to any thinking, rational human being who reads any good internet news sites, this is a sham. If it is OK to attack Libya because the leader of that country is killing his own people, why then just limit "our" actions to Libya? Why are "we" not attacking Bahrain? How about Syria? Or, even the zionist entity? How about Myanmar (aka Burma)?
In all of those countries the leaders have and are killing their own citizens. Bahrain even allowed troops from neighboring Saudi Arabia to "help" put down any possible revolt by the citizens of that island nation. The zionist entity continues to kill the captive people of Gaza and the West Bank and yet, there is NO talk of any sort of US or NATO intervention in any of the above listed countries. No doubt Syria may be one of the next targets, since "we" do not like their leader all that much, see Syria is too friendly with iran and we all know that Iran is in the US target list. Who can forget McCrazy with his nasty parody of the "Beach Boys" song? Yes, the "bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" Disgusting, but Iran is still on the US target list, mostly due to the undo influence of the zionist entity and their lobby AIPAC.
The US has a very selective double standard when it comes to "humanitarian interventions". The people of the US are manipulated by the government with the willing cooperation of the major media. We are constantly told how some leaders are the very embodiment of evil, while those who our "friends and allies" are allowed to go about their abuses with not even a single word of dissent from the USA.
We have a Secretary of State telling the world, and the zionist entity in particular, that any US citizen who is foolish enough to join the flotilla trying to break the siege of Gaza, that the US will say nothing and do even less should any US citizen be harmed or killed trying to break the siege. Amazing isn't it? That "our" own government officials would tell us that by trying to actually DO something that is a humanitarian thing, we can be shot, injured, and/or imprisoned and our government will not say or do anything to help us. Now, to me, this just shows how far in bed with the government of the zionist entity the leaders of "our" country are. My opinion is that Hi-Larry has more respect and obedience to the zionist entity than she has to America and our Constitution and laws, to say nothing of international laws and the various Geneva Conventions.
The siege of Gaza is unlawful by any legal standard, yet "our"(??) Secretary of State is willing to allow that government to do as it pleases to any American citizen who tries to "run" the blockade of that impoverished people.
It all makes me wonder just what oath of office our leaders take now days. Do they actually mean it when they swear to uphold the US Constitution and the laws of the US? Did they have their fingers crossed when they took that oath? Or, did they actually swear undying allegiance to some other outfit? They certainly seem to be more concerned about the zionist entity than they are about the USA.
I remember when I enlisted in the US Marines, we all took an oath to defend and protect the US and the Constitution from ALL enemies, foreign and domestic. When I was released from active duty, I was not told that the oath no longer applied. The same was true when I got my final discharge from eh Marines. At no point was I ever told to or even asked to, revoke that oath. To many of us veterans, this means that we are still obligated to honor that oath. Maybe, in my own small way, this blog is part of my way to stand by that path, to defend the Constitution. That document has been under assault since at least 9/11. No doubt the attacks on the Constitution go back much further, but since 9/11, it seems to me that the attacks on the Constitution have become louder and from more sources than any time in the history of this country.
We have, as our president, a man who was a Constitution scholar. Funny how somebody with that background can just ignore the congress and go off and start a war with Libya. Not only has he ignored the Constitution which says that ONLY congress has the right to declare war, he has even "decided" that he does not have to follow the "use of force" restrictions that were put on that office after the Watergate mess. Gobomber has taken the "imperial" presidency that was so blatant during the Cheney/Shrub gang and run with it. And this from a man who was able to fool a large number of Americans into thinking(?) he was anti-war. We surely bought a bill of goods in 2008, didn't we? Brings to mind the old saying about a "pig in a poke".
One could say this just shows the power of advertising, which is basically what our elections come down to in the final analysis.
America, what a country.

Excellent post.
All along the dems, and the wanna be liberals give O a pass.
They do not hold his feet to the fire.
It this was W they would be screaming bloody murder.
O is a certified "war of choice" president.
Even though I was totally against the draft during Nam.
I believe that the draft will be the only thing that will stop these endless wars with out borders.
We are no longer a country.
We are a band of war mongering tribes out of control.
I have direct tv.
The Documentary channel is showing
Operation Home coming.
Excellent.
Excellent post, Charlie.
Timely, written on the day we celebrate our Independence from the oppressive Europeans. Reading the Declaration of Independence reads too much like what all peace loving people must hate in the world right now. King George has been replaced by an Oligarchy, US style. This dual Zionist entity - and still connected to The Crown business and the mass imprisonments and bombs dropped a $million a pop - the same week a whole town shuts its libraries fire police and schools close. But the proletariat is to blame as the billionaires don't pay taxes and use more of the public space.
We use to be a nation of people that looked out for one another. Kind of what made us great. Justice and a chicken in every pot.
A tide that made all boats rise.
All shot down in CIA coups. Leaders of a more just, humane way towards peace. The lost art of diplomacy.
I am so disgusted at Obama and Shillary selling out out peaceful American citizens to Israel! THEY should be hung for treason.
What kind of beasts are "we"? America didn't have to be in debt owned by China now?? WTF is happening?
Happy 4th of July!!
party on
party over.
Peace.
Grace:
The question that must be asked is.
Is this mistake after mistake?
Is it because we are that inept?
Are we that dysfunctional?
OR, is it as I believe.
That it is all be design.
Ah, my friends. Grace, RZ, the old USA sure has changed since high school hasn't it?
If only it had changed for the better. Well, it IS better, IF you are among the Wall Street banksters and /or some CEO of a "too big to fail" outfit, like the war industries (used to be the military-industrial complex, now I just say war industries).
Grace, you sound like me, we "used to be" the tide that lifted ALL boats. Yes, you must have been in high school civics in the mid to late 1960's. I was, joined the Marines in 1968 even. We had lectures on the UCMJ in boot camp and I still remember some of them. The lessons that really stuck with me was every Marine was obligated to disobey any unlawful order, no matter who it came from. To this day, I despise Ollie North and his "just following orders from the president" BS excuse to the Congress back in the Iran-Contra hearings.
I try every day to live my own life and doing no harm to others. Live and let live, also I try to treat all I come in contact with the way I want to be treated. Yeah, the old "Golden Rule" stuff. I may not make much difference, but it is something I can do still.
RZ, yes, you hit this one square on. This IS by design. Just read some of the crap from PNAC or some of the reich wing "think tanks". Or, as Jeff Huber likes to call them "Tank thinkeries". He is the one who I first ran across who calls the Pentagon the "five sided puzzle palace". His blog is "Pen and Sword". Former Navy aviator and he knows his stuff. I have a link to his blog on the main page here.
I also agree that if we still had the draft, things would be very different. More people would be out to protest these damn fool wars of choice.
Grace, try not to give up. I could say don't despair also. While it IS true that, as I say often, no matter how bad things are, they can always get worse.Don't give up. No, I don't offer the false "hope" of Gobomber, just old fashioned common sense. If we each of us, try to be nice to all we meet, be civilized to each other. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, we WILL make this a nicer place for all. Just because the "leadership" has sold out to the gangsters of Wall Street and the zionist entity, we, the regular people do not have to follow them. You impress me as a decent human being Grace, just keep on being you. Things will get worse, this economy has yet to bottom out, but WE, do NOT have to allow the powers that be to beat us. We, as common, decent human beings are better than they are. You folks who comment on my small corner of the net are decent, caring people. Just keep being who you are, decent, caring, kind, educated human beings who really do want to make a better world. It may take longer than our own life times, but I do think we can make this world better for all.
OK, now I will get off the soap box.

Charlie, i am verklepmt after your post! I was born in 1963. The baby of 7 kids. On the one hand I had no clue when I was young what was going on politically like what a president is and does. I graduated HS in 1981 not being able to explain why we went to Vietnam and that was one of my first clues that something had been left out of my education! Yet I had lived surrounded by all the events of the day having grown up in Hollywood and then Santa Cruz where alot of the love and peace movement converged. Then to Sacramento where the lawmakers for California gather and affect alot of people.
Reality Zone, your question is apt. I am inclined toward the higher purpose and vision playing out. Pre- designed. A strangely lawlesss World - all the laws we used to believe in like certain inalienable rights are being exempted. New laws passed in the night that hurt the common person.
It is greedy and cruel and it is a way of looking at the World. It is hard work to break the common mindset, but it helps remembering that it doesn't have to be this way. It helps not to read or watch much MSM - just enough to know what they are spouting these days.
You are right about the Golden Rule, Charlie. I always thought, if I teach my son anything it would be that. A person can go far in life on that one understanding. It is right, respectful and respectable. It comes across in your posts and I admire that. Thank you, it's an honor. Always more to say..
Peace. ;)
Grace,
Well then, you are one of the youngsters . LOL
Most are youngsters to me these days. LOL, I hit 64 this year.
I didn't think anyone who finished high school in the 80's would still believe in the Constitution. I had thought the school systems went totally to hell in the 70's. I still think the 70's was a bad time for the school system. Seems like that is when education started going downhill. I was in California from 1959 until 2000. Southern Calif. La Puente and then my home in Ontario for 25 years.
I have no religion at all. The Vietnam "adventure" finished any organized religion for me. I still think the "golden rule" is a good way to try and be. It does not require any religion to act that way. I just have no personal use for religion. Is that good? I don't know, but I am OK with how I try to live.
I try to respect the opinions of others. Unless they come on with some reich wing crap like the "tea party" types or most politicians now days. I detest lies and liars. I also have zero tolerance for stupid. Realize that ignorance is not stupid. They are two different things. We are all ignorant of something. I am ignorant of quantum physics, but I can read about the subject and lessen my ignorance. Stupid is something way different. Stupid is sort of like being very ignorant on many topics and being unwilling to even try to learn different. A willful ignorance that is also arrogant. Stupid is hard to define, but I know it when I see it.
David at "Dangerous Creation" has as his current topic "where did all the hippies go?". I think a good many of them sold out. This old, former Marine/combat vet still believes in some of the 60's stuff. The ideals of that time apply to any time period I think. The mutual respect for each other and that sort of way to act.Draft beer, not students even.
Yeah, I have a hard time with people who claim to have high ideals who later on sell out to chase the almighty dollar. No doubt if I had not been in the Marines I'd have ended up as a hippie. Sound confused? Well, I don't fit the stereotype and never tried to. More than once a person who was never even in the military will say to me that they had thought "once a Marine, always a Marine" and wonder why I am the way I am. I tell them I got an education, not at school though. I still have a certain personal pride in having been in the Corps.
We are all complex and you get in trouble when you try to fit people into a certain box or stereotype.
We should all have the freedom to be who we are,as long as we cause no harm to others.
Sorry to be so long winded in this reply. Might have to expand it and use it as a post some time.
I really do appreciate the comments I get here. You folks let me know that I am not the only person who feels as I do about this world and our country.
Thank you all.
Henry Norr sailed to Greece, on the way to Gaza. He called for a US declaration of independence from Israel on the 4th.
Looks to me as though everyone's set to ride the plane into the ground. No one's heading for the cabin to wrest control from the crew.
The crew seem to be relying on their golden parachutes to save themselves.
Tough luck for all those tigthening their seatbelts in the back of the bus, I mean plane.
Hi Charlie, lol about being the young one at going on 50! Yikes, its all a journey. That's the thing about being the "baby" of the family too - rough to overcome! Being a parent is maturing. My husband helps me stay a few degrees of mature ahead of our son. Fortunately, the kid likes to read which has helped keep him out of the typical mindset. He is a rebel at heart just like me though!
Yeah, I dislike being called stupid and I go two ways when it comes from someone I "know." One, is that the choice of words is a reflection on the person using them and therefore I don't take it personally. It actually makes me feel a concern for the well being of the speaker.
The other part of me takes it absolutely personally and looks at what could contribute to such a public act of stupidity.
I am on medications that make me less clear headed than I would prefer. There is one for the constant migraines I get that I think is messing with my thinking. Getting such strong reactions from somewhere I have posted for years makes me question my brain and if I am losing it! Your kind words about ignorance as opposed to stupidity are right on and appreciated. I would start my own blog but I feel too messed up lately. I admire your blog. I have been going to DC for many years now. I don't feel quite as enthusiastic, but appreciate the last vestiges of free speech before we return to the old printing press!
Hey, I appreciate your journey too! The discipline and Constitution of America land of the free that you defended and being a hippie is an inside job. Everybody always told me I was born ten years too late. Maybe our time is yet to come. The 1970's in school, we read about mall societies on the Moon by the year 2000. They talked about new math and then never got around to teaching it to us. No, we did not learn about anything beyond the branches of govt and dead presidents.
My dad and I bonded watching the Democratic Conventions together. maybe that was when I started caring -plus everybody was saving a whale or saying no nukes by the 1980's. I spent most of the 80's in a cult. idealistic naive escape. Here we are. Things got worse with my head in the clouds. Now here I look as soberly as possible as an adult, a citizen. Church doesn't seem to fit into the picture. Am very weary of organized groups at this point. In a better, caring place, I would welcome such a phenomenon, but it is also simply known as community which doesn't have to be religious. Thanks for other citizens like you, Charlie there is a sense of community even as i try to find my bearings in this World. have a great day! You made my day.
Hey, Charlie, yours is a great post! It's so great to see networks of friends forming and growing, networks of like minds who are sick to death of what the world has become.
Keep up your great work. We may yet do some good and change a few things!
